Ever so slowly but surely they are bringing it in… this weather isn’t helping but they’re determined little creatures. Surely better weather is just round the corner… surely? #prayforsun #ourenvironment #beethechange

Sometimes I have to pinch myself… I love what I do so much, sure the weather is crap most of the time and things don’t always go to plan, evidently bees don’t read the same books as we do? But if it was all plain sailing then it would quickly become boring and dull. I genuinely feel lucky to do what I do, making a real difference to the people I keep bees for, helping the bees thrive not just survive and giving back to the beautiful planet we live on, connecting people to it so they care for it…. no two days are ever the same and I love that more than anything. I end this busy week feeling very grateful. #gratitude #bestjobintheworld #livingthedream #sustainability #ourenvironment #teambuilding #csr #employeeengagement #purpose #bcorpuk #biodiversity

World Bee Day - The Day aims to raise awareness on the importance of pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development. All bees are important to our beautiful planet and the delicate circle of life. We need to look after these little beauties because without them, we’re literally screwed!!! Whether you have a little bug hotel, or simply a pile of logs that a solitary bumble bee might build a home, or possibly lucky enough to have a hive, you’re doing something amazing!!! Make sure you always have fresh water and plenty of flowers for them to feed on in the garden, on the balcony or window box… if we all do our bit it can make a big big difference. #worldbeeday #ourenvironment #pollinators #pollination

April you have thrown everything at us this year… wind, rain, hail, sunshine, frost and warmth. You’ve tested us, you always do! It’s no coincidence that the month begins with a Fools’ Day: April can sometimes take us for fools. #april #4seasonsinoneday #sustainability #biodiversity #beekind #ourenvironment #thealmanac

Suns out Sky’s blue… spring has finally arrived. The busy bees are really starting to get going now!!! They’re busy increasing their colony size to take advantage of the spring flowers that have burst into life in the last few days, long may this weather continue, we’re definitely due a bit of good settled weather. #spring #springsunshine #beegood #beekind #pollination #csr #employeeengagement #bcorpuk

This blew my mind yesterday… the wonderful folk @themanor_house have let the daisies create a white carpet of flowers for their bees, beautiful. This used to be daisy and flower free, they’ve made a conscious decision to support their bees and other pollinators surrounding their hotel. Better still they’ve had so many great comments from guests about how beautiful it looks. This really made me smile. #beegood #sustainability #beegarden #pollinators #ourenvironment #employeeengagement #happyguest #fieldtofork

With the wind and rain easing this week, thank the Lord. it’s been great to not rush through the hives and take time to stop and really look at how they’re doing… plenty of pollen and nectar now coming in with more and further foraging flights, queens are really ramping up their egg laying and colonies are all expanding nicely!!! This frame shows exactly that with capped cells, larvae and, if you look closely, eggs! The comb is bright and golden from feeding on dandelions, bees love dandelions!!! They’re also bringing in plenty greenish pollen from hawthorn which is beautiful to see, those hedgerows will be laden with berries come the autumn, the birds will be thankful. The circle of life my friends!!! #biodiversity #sustainability #circleoflife #ourenvironment #hedgerows #beethechange #beekind

When the weather permits, currently sleeting? I’m out and about opening the hives removing winter treatments for varroa and rearranging the hives for spring (brood box at the bottom, super on top), this winter has been really tough for the bees due to the excessive wet weather, on the back of the summer which wasn’t great either! This has hindered them getting out and bringing in fresh pollen and ironically fresh water which is vital for their health and existence. Fingers crossed the worst is behind us and April brings some warmth and drier days. #sustainability #beekind #spring #pollinators🐝 #ourenvironmentourresponsibility #csr #employeeengagement
