Want to improve your organisation’s sustainability programme and make a real difference? Now’s the best time of year to let us organise and set up your hives!

Bees pollinate flowers, trees, crops and hedgerows from early spring, through the summer and into autumn. Setting up and introducing your hives in March gives your bees plenty of time to forage for food and build up their stores, ensuring they’re stronger and better prepared for the long winter ahead. Plus, if they’ve made plenty and have an abundance of flavoursome honey, we can harvest the surplus for you to enjoy!

Sounding good? Find your perfect plan on our website, or get in touch to discuss bespoke options 🐝

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💗

Did you know St. Valentine is also the patron saint of beekeepers?

Legend has it that St. Valentine had great love for the beautiful and amazing creatures and kept bees himself. Beekeepers around the world now leave honey and wax candles at his altar hoping to keep their bees thriving and their honey sweet 🐝

Last month, Martin and Amy were invited by the Royal Agricultural University to deliver a workshop to students, as part of their module on Climate Change and Natural Resource Challenges, led by Patricia Mathabe. 🌍

In the session, we explored climate change’s impact on pollinators like the honey bee and how changes in weather systems are affecting colonies, crops and the synergy between them, leading to increased threat to food security.
Thank you to all who attended for sparking some fantastic discussions and to RAU for having us down! 🙌

With honey bees mostly staying inside the hive over winter, what do we do to take care of them? 👀

At Knight’s Beekeeping, we do everything we can to keep your bees warm and safe during the colder months, be it ensuring they have plenty of honey to feed on or keeping them dry and insulated amid high winds or flooding.

One of the biggest threats to honey bees is the Varroa mite, a parasite that feeds on the bee and has been found to wipe out 95-100% of unmanaged honey bees within four years of infestation.

We protect our hives by inserting medicinal strips on frames, which the bees walk on. This ensure they safely get through the season.

Interested in having bees you can call your own? With us, you can keep your hive on one of our fully-managed apiaries in the countryside and let us handle the day-to-day – find your perfect plan today via the link in our bio! 😊

Suns out!!! Whilst it’s still freezing outside, the sun fills me with optimism that spring is just round the corner. Busy cleaning, scrubbing and repairing these honey supers, getting ready for spring when they will all start to go back on the hives. It’s supposed to be #bluemonday today… Couldn’t be further from it!!! #bringiton #optimistic #lookingforward #letsdothis #sustainability #ourenvironment #bcoprp #employeeengagement #fieldtofork #livingbetterstartshere™️
